Cornell University Graduate Catherine Zhange competed in Jeopardy National College Tournament in earlier February.

“I’ve been a fan since I was pretty young,” Zhang said. “My family grew up watching it on TV and I’ve been watching the show since I was in elementary school and just been a longtime fan of the show. Every year, I would watch like a teen tournament and college tournaments, so being able to actually be a part of it was super exciting.”

“So, one of the most important parts is being really fast with the buzzer and getting your timing right on there,” Zhang said. “I don’t think I fully realized that until actually being on the show. That’s I would say as important as your actual trivia knowledge itself, because if you can’t get the buzzer in first then you don’t even get a chance to answer the question.”

To land a spot on one of the nation’s most iconic game show, Zhang said she took Jeopardy’s online college test in the fall of 2020.
