According to the Manila International Airport Authority , PAGASA issued the red lightning alert at 1:28 p.m. It was lifted and downgraded to a yellow lightning alert at 1:45 p.m. The MIAA said the advisory was issued as a safety measure taken “to prevent untoward incidents from happening when lightning is prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passengers, and even flight operations."that light to moderate rains, with periods of heavy rain, were expected over 13 areas in Luzon and Visayas due to the Southwest Monsoon and low pressure area .
