Nani admits feeling nervous before scoring in a penalty shoot-out to secure Manchester United's victory in the 2008 Champions League final against Chelsea.

Nani admitted he was wracked with nerves before scoring in a penalty shoot-out to help Manchester United win the Champions League in 2008.

“All my nerves were before, when I went up for a header with Ashley Cole and was bleeding from a cut on my head,” recalled Nani, who had replaced Wayne Rooney in extra-time. “When that happens, you have to go back to the field and play with all the pressure, all the nerves are on you, but you feel there's nothing to fear anymore.

“But it was difficult. When I looked at the goal and I saw Petr Cech, who's so big, I was thinking 'where am I going to put the ball?' and he almost saved it! Nani is still playing in Turkey’s top flight and believes he can carry on playing until he is 40 - like former team-mate Giggs. Nani is currently playing for Adana Demirspor, his fifth club in as many years after stints at Sporting Lisbon, Orlando City, Venezia and Melbourne Victory.A serious knee injury threatened to end his career last year, but after recovering without the need for surgery he is back playing and scored in a recent win, celebrating with his trademark backflip.
