NASA brings together 16 experts to investigate unexplained UFO sightings and draw 'scientific conclusions about what's happening in our skies'
Sixteen-member panel will focus its inquiry entirely on what the US government calls"unidentified aerial phenomena or UAPs," US space agency says.
The 16-member panel, convened on Monday with little fanfare, will focus its inquiry entirely on unclassified sightings and other data collected from civilian government and commercial sectors, according to the US space agency. The term UFOs, long associated with notions of flying saucers and alien spacecraft, has been replaced in official government parlance by "UAP."
Senior defence and intelligence officials testified before Congress five months ago that the list of cataloged UAP sightings had since grown to 400 but many remain beyond explanation, either as advanced earthly technologies, atmospherics or something alien.
