Some welcome news for Nottingham
A new furniture shop could open at a prominent Nottingham location after plans were lodged for the site. An application has been put forward for signage for a new store, Sofas & Stuff, for the former Sofa Workshop store in Castle Boulevard.
The Sofa Workshop in Nottingham opened in 2018, however, it closed its doors this year after going into administration, with the loss of 77 jobs. The potential new store, Sofas & Stuff, is a furniture store that sells everyting from sofas to beds and coffee tables. They have 20 showrooms throughout the country. The application states 'Three internally illuminated fascia panel signs, one internally illuminated totem panel, three non-illuminated car park signs and small window vinyls.
East Midlands Chamber director of policy and external affairs Chris Hobson said: “Castle Boulevard is an important thoroughfare in Nottingham that is home to a thriving range of high-quality homeware retailers. “While it’s often the case that some shops will be forced to close or move for whatever reason, being able to quickly replace an empty unit with a similar store that fits into the wider theme is testament to the strength of this shopping area, while it is to be hoped this could help to safeguard jobs and potentially even create new roles.”
