Prof Michael Murphy succeeds Dr Maurice Manning as NUI’s sixth chancellor since 1908

He succeeds Dr Maurice Manning, who was chancellor since 2009. The role has previously been held by Éamon de Valera , Thomas Kenneth Whitaker and Garret FitzGerald . Prof Murphy said he was honoured to take up the mantle of chancellor and hoped to “continue the work that Dr Maurice Manning has done in promoting NUI’s evolution and success, maintaining its unique and historic position in the higher education sector”.
