The cold weather has led to a number of cancellations, re-arrangements and postponements

A number of events in the Irish sporting calendar have been disrupted due to the extremely cold weather conditions that have hit Ireland in recent days.

Many parts of the island have been impacted by the cold snap, with overnight temperatures dropping to almost -5C in some parts of the country. The resulting icy and frosty conditions have led to many cancellations in the Irish rail, LUAS and DART services. But, it's not only infrastructure that has been affected. A number of sporting events that were due to take place over the weekend are now likely to be postponed.

The Navan racing fixture for Saturday, December 10th has been cancelled due to the extremely cold weather. Navan Racecourse released a video on social media earlier today that showed the course hot with significant frost making it impossible for racing to take place tomorrow. The Munster Senior Football Championship final has seen it's throw-in time changed from Saturday evening to Saturday afternoon.

The game between Kerins O’Rahillys and Newcastle West in the final will now take place in Mallow at 3pm.
