Good news for passengers

Bus operator Nottingham City Transport has announced it will continue the £2 Government single fare cap until the end of October this year. The £2 cap - subsidised by the Government - offers an 80p discount on the usual adult single fare for NCT journeys in Nottingham.

The £2 single fares cap had been due to come to an end on NCT buses in June but NCT managers confirmed in an update on Tuesday that the cap will continue until October. The single adult fare can be purchased on buses using contactless payment or cash, through the NCTX Buses app, via Easyrider Purse and on a Robin Hood Pay As You Go Card.

The extended £2 bus fare cap will be implemented across all Nottingham City Transport routes. Passengers travelling on NCT’s longer distance routes such as Loughborough, Southwell and Lambley/Woodborough can also take advantage of the scheme, with their maximum fare also capped at £2 for adults and under 19s.

Transport Secretary Mark Harper said: “Taking the bus is the most popular form of public transport, and millions of people rely on these vital services every day. That’s why we are investing half a billion pounds to help people save money amid cost of living pressures and continue to level up transport in all parts of the country, doing our bit to help halve inflation and grow the economy.”
