“I never thought people across the country will be calling my cousin’s name,” Walker's cousin said. “We never thought this would happen in Akron, Ohio, and I never thought it would be my family.”
AKRON, Ohio – They laughed about his jokes, remembered his quiet personality and praised his loyalty, his honesty.
On Wednesday, family and friends remembered the shooting, but they described a quiet boy who grew to be a confident man. A parade of people moved slowly to speak, each telling a story about Walker. He was quiet and loyal, with a smile that could light up the city.The crowd roared when DeJournett called Walker “a mama’s boy.” He was born in Akron to Pamela and Edward Walker. He had one sister, Jada.
Hubbard said in an interview that Walker was one of the nicest kids he had ever coached and one of the hardest working. Hubbard had some wrestlers who pushed his limits. Walker was not one of them.
