Neighbours recalled hearing a 'big screech' before a car crashed into a Nottingham corner shop. Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in Nottingham Road, Basford, on Wednesday, March 8.

The emergency services were called shortly before 6pm after the crash, which happened on the corner of Chelmsford Road. Two cars were involved in a collision, before one crashed into the shop. The driver and passenger in the other car were taken to hospital for treatment and were later released.Harrold Adkin, 67 lives near where the scene took place. Harrold, who is now retired, said: “I heard a big screech and then all of sudden, the place was flooded with police.

The Jaspal Newsagents is owned by shopkeeper ‘Jessie’ and has been in the area for more than 30 years. Anne Holmes, 55 lives in Whitemoor.
