Lennon believes a decision over Montgomery is likely to already have been made behind the scenes.
Neil Lennon reckons Hibs have already made their decision over Nick Montgomery - and the post-split season won't impact the boss' future either way.
The Easter Road club put out a strong statement last week slamming their 'simply unacceptable' failure to qualify for the top six. There's change at the top with Bill Foley's investment taking effect and the club have promised a review into the footballing structure, with Montgomery's future to be considered in the summer.
But former boss Lennon reckons any decision will have already been made behind the scenes - and thinks whether Montgomery stays or goes, the last five games of the Premiership season will have no bearing. He told PLZ Soccer: “They had to say something. The minimum requirement is top six and with the investment they have put into the team, they haven’t go it right, for whatever reason. I thought looking at it, they might give Nick a bit more time and maybe into next season.
“I am not convinced the remaining performances or results are going to make a difference to tell you the truth. They are not going to affect next season in any way, shape or form. I think they had an ample opportunity to get into the top six and they weren’t consistent enough. “You have to remember, Dundee had another game on the Wednesday. Dundee got into the top six with a game to spare. You look at the Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Dundee, is the Hibs squad on paper better than that? You’d like to think so, they have under-performed.”
