The upcoming Club World Cup in the USA, scheduled to occur between June and July 2025, will feature a 32-team lineup, including defending champions Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and four Brazilian clubs due to their recent success in the Copa Libertadores. Teams from various continents, awarded based on ranking and recent achievements, will compete.
Right, let's go through the basics. The new 32-team Club World Cup will take place in the USA between June and July 2025. City are the defending champions having won the last edition of the old format in Saudi Arabia in 2023, but will face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich . There are 12 European teams, six from South America, five from North America, four each from Asia and Africa, and one from Oceania.
Places have been awarded to clubs who won their Champions League , by ranking position, and through other means like Inter Miami's qualification for the host nation. Each country is allowed a maximum of two clubs, meaning City and Chelsea qualified by winning the Champions League in 2021 and 2023. But for Brazil, who boast the winners of the last four Copa Libertadores, those places are automatically given so there will be four Brazilian outfits in the tournament.
