Reescano, a Michigan State commit, ran for 252 yards and five touchdowns in his senior season debut. As a team, New Caney ran for 335 yards and had 457 yards of total offense. “There’s a lot of learning,” Cooper said. “We’ve got a lot of young guys and some right moments and teachable moments. We started five sophomores and some juniors who had no varsity experience. And that’s not an excuse and we aren’t using that as an excuse. What’s great is we are going to come back tomorrow, learn, watch the film, grow and respond next week.”Reescano went on runs of 25 and 23 yards to setup a 1-yard punch into the end zone.
