Plans for new country parks in East Lancashire are set to go ahead after a local authority came to an agreement to buy more than 80 acres of land.

Cllr Munsif Dad, leader of of the authority’s opposition Labour group said: “We welcome this. It will be a valuable addition to the borough’s green spaces. Hyndburn is a beautiful place to live and these places need to be protected and preserved for residents and visitors.” Cllr Marlene Haworth, deputy leader of the council who represents St Oswald’s ward in Oswaldtwistle, said: “I am very passionate about the green space here in Oswaldtwistle, and in fact throughout the borough.
