Reyes is interning at the department this summer as part of her training in preparation for a career in law enforcement at Sam Houston State University.With the rapid growth of Tomball, the city’s fire department is in the design stage of a new fire station to meet the service needs of the east part of the city.
Tomball Fire Chief Joe Sykora said the new station is at the very end of the design phase. Once that phase is complete, the project will be sent out for bid. The building itself is actually owned by Harris County ESD 15, but the Tomball Fire Department will be staffing it under contract.Northwest Houston hospitals expanding as they continue adapting through the pandemic
The total residential population of ESD 15 is about 34,000, Sykora said, and most of that population resides on the east side of the district. Among the usual features included in a fire station, this new station will feature additional measures for cancer prevention like decontamination areas, Sykora said.The station will also feature a back porch for firefighters to relax on during downtime and additional storage areas.
