New homes have been proposed

Residents have shared their thoughts on the proposal of new houses on a leafy street in an affluent Nottinghamshire area. Plans have been submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council for 10 dwellings off the back of land in Bramcote Drive, Beeston.

The site does not lie within a conservation area, but residents say they enjoy looking out at the trees opposite, and appreciate the wildlife the vegetation brings. The planning proposal states that "the majority of the mature trees along Bramcote Drive will be retained and new shrubs and smaller trees will be planted along the boundary with Bramcote Drive."Now residents have weighed in and said they agree with the plans as long as the trees are maintained.

Another local resident added: "We do value the trees, but we do want them maintained. If it's done sensibly, I can understand the logic of it. "If everything's taken on board, then I can see there will be some very sought-after dwellings near us." Two points of access onto Bramcote Drive have been proposed in the plans., each serving five dwellings.
