Everything you need to know and whether your employer can make you work
For many people, January can feel like the longest month of the year. After the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the busy holiday season, it seems like January drags on forever.
Thankfully there is some good news on the horizon, as the country is set to enjoy the newest Bank Holiday very soon. The extra bank holiday is in celebration of none other than Saint Brigid’s day, the Irish marker for the first day of Spring. Last year, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar made an official statement announcing the news that the public holiday will fall on the first Monday in February and will remain an annual public holiday each year in recognition of the date. This means that we can look forward to an additional long weekend each year, with the holiday falling on Monday 6th this coming February.
