In an unprecedented move, the cross-party group said Mr Johnson “closed his mind to the truth” and would have faced a 90-day suspension from the Commons had he nota kangaroo court “amounts to an attack on our democratic institutions”, and that he was “complicit” in a “campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation of the Committee”.

He slammed the Committee’s findings as “the final knife-thrust in a protracted political assassination”, warning that the report marked “a dreadful day for MPs and for democracy”.
