New arrivals from Ukraine could find their State-provided accommodation limited to just three months under new plans.
New arrivals from Ukraine could soon be faced with a three-month time limit on their State-provided accommodation, under new plans.
It is understood the Government is working on a new policy for those fleeing war, with a memo due to go before Cabinet soon. Under the plan, Ukrainians fleeing the ongoing war who arrive in Ireland would only be provided with State accommodation for three months. After that, they would have to find their own accommodation or move into a home made available through the offer-a-home scheme.
It is understood the Government is considering the move in a bid to bring Ireland in line with other EU countries. For example, in Poland, those who have spent more than 120 days in State accommodation must pay 50% of the cost, with this rising to 75% after 180 days.It remains unclear when the changes will be introduced.
