Shamrock Rovers host Galway United at Tallaght Stadium tonight (8.00pm)
Leon Pohls says he 'never let the belief die' as he finally lays claim to the gloves as Shamrock Rovers’ new No 1.
Pohls had 28 competitive first-team appearances under his belt before this season, and 10 more for the Shamrock Rovers ‘II’ team, when it competed in the First Division. “They could have gone with any keeper, being the biggest club in Ireland. Putting trust in me told me everything I needed to know.“If you have the right people around you that keep motivating you, keep pushing you, you’ll find a way. It’s a lonely job if you’re a No 2, but never let the belief die.”He left home when he was 17 and pitched up in America at an academy in New York and another in Florida, while also attending high school.
“You get away with saying so many things that you might not get away with at home. It’s a bit more relaxed.”
