Newly released weather maps suggest the potential for widespread wintry showers and even snow, only days before Christmas Day 2024.
According to available weather data analysed by WXCharts.com on Sunday December 8, there is the potential for a blanket of snow to reach from as far north as Co. Donegal to parts of Co. Cork on Sunday December 22. It remains unclear how deep any potential snowfall might be and what length of time it would lie.
"Current indications are for more unsettled conditions to take hold during Forecast Week 2 as Low Pressure becomes more prevalent," said Met Eireann. "Mean air temperatures are forecast to be around the climatological mean whilst it looks likely to be wetter than normal." Tuseday: Dry and calm with a widespread sharp frost and icy stretches; areas of fog too. Lowest temperatures of -3°C to 0°C.
