Pub chain JD Wetherspoon is set to open a brand new hotel with thirty rooms
JD Wetherspoon pub chain will open a brand new hotel in the heart of Southport after Sefton Council green lit plans. The Sir Henry Segrave pub on Lord Street is one of the most popular drinking establishments in the seaside town and the approval of a new hotel will add further capacity to Southport 's night-time economy. In April, Sefton Council also approved plans to convert the Grade II-listed Garrick Theatre building into a mixed-use facility, including a 109-room hotel.
The pub chain will now start work on converting the vacant upper floors of the pub into thirty hotel rooms. Plans submitted to Sefton Council detail Wetherspoon's intention to make some alterations to the ground floor pub, including a hotel reception, an extended kitchen area and refurbishments.
