Police in New Orleans are investigating a deadly attack that occurred during New Year's celebrations in the French Quarter. A driver rammed into a crowd on Canal and Bourbon Streets, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 35. The driver then fired at police officers, striking two, before being killed in a shootout. New Orleans City Councilman Oliver Thomas said there is no making sense of the evil that transpired.

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Alethea Duncan initially stated that the incident was not a terrorist event, but later the FBI clarified they are working with their partners to investigate it as an act of terrorism.
