Please read our Please read ourAs expected, Emil Krafth came in for the injured Fabian Schar but Eddie Howe springing a surprise, with Callum Wilson coming in for Elliot Anderson. As expected, Burnley fast out of the traps and looking to get momentum and confidence early on. A run of only one defeat in their last eight giving them hope of avoiding the drop.
United’s attempts to get a foothold seeing a woeful referee repeatedly refusing to book Burnley players, or even at times give the free-kick, as Newcastle’s attacking trio of Wilson, Gordon and Isak time after time impeded. First of all a weak penalty saved after Gordon had won it with a great run, then within a minute more of action, Isak turning and scoring after Murphy once again squared it from the right side.
As Eddie Howe used his subs and the chance to bring Almiron and Joelinton back into the action, the action wound down a little but Newcastle continued to threaten.
