An astronomical forecast for the yearly cost of energy and a likely drought declaration lead the papers.
The front pages continue to be dominated by stories about the ever-increasing projections for the cost of energy. The Daily Express splashes on a "shocking new warning" that the average annual bill is set to hit over £5,000 by next April. The paper says hopes of them falling by next spring have been "dashed", noting that talks between energy bosses and ministers in Downing Street "failed to produce a plan".
The paper notes the former chancellor said he was prepared to spend up to £10billion to "soften the impact" of the October price rise by abolishing VAT on energy bills, challenging her to join him in the process.Meanwhile, the ongoing heatwave and likelihood of a drought being declared after months of little to no rainfall leads several papers.
