The retailer describes the dress as 'perfect for transitional daytime dressing or chic holiday evenings'

A 'breathable linen rich fabric' dress from Next has been slashed in price, with the retailer describing it as 'perfect' for daytime or 'chic' holiday evenings.

The Black/White Polka Dot Scarf Square Neck Mini Shift Dress was €46 but has been reduced to €23 in the clearance sale online. The product description on the Next website reads: "Make a chic statement with our Polka Dot Scarf Square Neck Mini Shift Dress, an on-trend addition to your warm-weather collection. Cut from a premium, breathable linen rich fabric, this sleeveless dress offers lightweight comfort alongside a structured, timeless look.

"The dress features a modern framed square neckline and a sleek shift silhouette, elegantly elevated by a striking detachable scarf tied around the waist. Adorned with contrasting monochrome polka dots, the scarf brings a playful, retro-inspired touch that can be styled your way or removed for a classic, minimalist look.

"Complete with a subtle back zip closure, this versatile black and white mini dress is perfect for transitional daytime dressing or chic holiday evenings. " Features of the dress: The Next dress is also available in 'Ecru Tomato Print', although this option remains at full price at €46 and sizes remaining in stock are limited. Elsewhere, the Linen Rich Collared Mini Shift Dress from M&S is €43 and is available in black or white.

It's marked as 'selling fast' on the retailer's website. Meanwhile, this ASOS DESIGN cotton linen v neck smock midi dress in warm chocolate has been reduced from €24.99 to €21.99. There are no specific reviews yet for the polka dot dress from Next, but shoppers have gave the printed ecru version an average rating of 4.1/5 stars based on 22 customer reviews. One happy buyer said: "Just purchased this in advance of sunnier days.

Lovely linen like material. Good fit all round, I’m large busted so dresses sometimes are a hit or a miss. Love the square neck and pockets are a big bonus. I’m 5’ 4” and a perfect length for warmer weather so probably quite short for taller people.

I love it.

" A second added: "Dress is , airy very nice. It arrived quickly & I'm more then happy with it. Size fits perfectly.

" A third said: "Absolutely love this dress. Very flattering, comfortable and cooling in the heat. Great length too sitting just above the knee.

" However, not all shoppers were pleased with their purchase. One less impressed buyer said: "I bought this two weeks ago. I always wear a size 14 using next clothes, however, I couldn’t even get this on. Very disappointed.

" Another added: "Returned this item. Lovely print but the square neckline isn’t flattering.

" But a different reviewer who awarded the dress a five star rating told: "Very good quality. Had lots compliments on the dress.
