Rees-Zammit joins Superbowl champions Kansas City Chiefs
Down GAA goalkeeper Charlie Smyth has signed a deal with the Saints while Wales rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit has completed a move to this year’s Superbowl champions Kansas.
GAA stars Rory Beggan Mark Jackson will still be hoping to receive a contract offer after joining Smyth to compete in this year's NFL combine as part of the International Player Pathway program. “Smyth , 6-4, 210, was signed by the club following a workout at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center. The Newry, Ireland native, who played goalkeeper for Down GAA in Gaelic football, was selected by the NFL to participate in its International Player Pathway program. The 22-year old Smyth, who has played Gaelic football since he was four years old, is an Ulster-under 20 winner who made his senior debut in 2023 in Ireland's elite inter-county league.
"Everyone's goal is obviously to win a Super Bowl," Rees-Zammit previously told the Daily Mail about his move to the NFL. "But I need to find a team that's right for myself and for the franchise. As long as the team has a good plan and we're on the same page, that's all that matters."
