In this week's rundown, Inside Injuries' Greg Schulz examines the injuries to Joe Burrow, Austin Ekeler, Nick Chubb and more.
Say they rest Burrow and lose to Los Angeles, falling to 0-3. At that point, they would have to overcome some pretty crazy odds to make the playoffs . What I’m getting at here is that cutting their losses now by resting Burrow would sort of be like throwing in the towel on their season .
This is somewhat of a continuation of the Burrow explanation. Putting his injury aside and considering the playoff implications of him not playing, Burrow is likely to play. Richardson, on the other hand, should not. If I were you, I’d grab another QB because concussions can linger and the league has put more protocols in place.
Turf toe is one of those things that is always a little more impactful than what appears on the surface. If you’re able, quickly curl your toes and then stretch them upwards. Focus on the feeling in your big toe. If you were dealing with turf toe, both of these movements would elicit some sort of pain. Now picture how much more it would hurt if you were trying to use that foot to run, jump, or do really any agility move.
Okay, the heavy stuff out of the way, yes, it is certainly a possibility that Chubb plays next year. It’s rare that an injury of this severity happens twice to a player. We don’t have confirmation that the array of injuries Chubb dealt with in 2015 — ruptured ACL, MCL, PCL, and a dislocated patella — are what he’s dealing with now. However, his injuries from 2015 serve as a great reference in analyzing the trajectory and process of his recovery.
Right now, Chubb should be taking things one day at a time. As unfortunate as it is, he’s done this before and we believe he can do it again.was my backup for Saquon Barkley and now he’s questionable! Do we think he’ll play Sunday? — Brandon S.
