Instagram Dr Rajan explains that 'slow running' - or 'zone two exercise' - is defined as a pace where you can 'comfortably hold a conversation'. On a scale from one to 10, where 10 is an 'all-out sprint', this sweet spot may be a four or five. Dr Rajan added: "And the strenuous joggers had a mortality rate that wasn't statistically different to the non-joggers. But why? Slow runners recover faster and are less likely to suffer from fatigue or injuries from over-training."
