Labour claimed the spending proved the Scottish Government was focused on the 'wrong priorities'
Health boards across Scotland are spending more than £7m a year on spin doctors at a time of massive financial pressure on the NHS, it can be revealed.
The Scottish Government also employs a further 37 full-time equivalent communications staff with duties involving the health and social care portfolio, which costs a further £1m in wages. "Of course, people need to know what is happening in their area, what services they can expect to access and any urgent changes to this but this level of investment in so-called communications is outrageous.
The Record previously revealed how a health board embroiled in a spying scandal has been accused of spending over £600,000 on spin doctor salaries.
