A visit by Labour leader Keir Starmer to the King's Mill Hospital is at the centre of a political row
A Nottinghamshire hospital trust is considering a complaint about a visit by Labour leader Keir Starmer to one of its sites. The Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust is looking into whether the visit should have gone ahead given that the chair of the trust, Claire Ward, is also Labour's candidate to be the East Midlands Mayor.
The opposition leader visited King's Mill Hospital alongside shadow health secretary Wes Streeting on April 8. It is understood that the hospital had approval from NHS England before the visit went ahead, but Conservative MPs have complained about the matter.Health Secretary Victoria Atkins raised the issue with the boss of NHS England, whilst the Sherwood Forest Hospitals boss has now confirmed he is looking into the visit.
"The issue you have raised will be considered under the trust's complaints and concerns policy and in-line with the NHS Constitution. It is my intention to update you on this matter within the next five working days and I look forward to coming back to you in due course."
