A ‘No Going Back’ message has been delivered by some of Northern Ireland top entertainers in the wake of the John Caldwell attack.
The shooting, he added, came against a backdrop of Northern Ireland’s “blossoming” as a society where people are “proud of where we come from”, so “to be dragged back” to our troubled past cannot be allowed to happen. The comic and presenter recalled his own experience when he said the “only thought going through my head was please god no one’s having that chat with John’s son”.
He said, however, that while our politics is imperfect, “sometimes we’re too hard of ourselves”, and there is “polarised politics everywhere in world”.Colin Murray worried about people “romanticising” the Troubles, adding there was “nothing romantic about”.
