🔴 Nicola Sturgeon rejects blanket ban on rapists being held in women's prisons in Scotland
The decision followed a risk assessment carried out by the Scottish Prison Service, which had been made aware of the First Minister’s views on the case. Hours later, Bryson was moved to a part of the men’s prison estate.podcast, the First Minister was asked why she did not simply introduce a total ban on rapists being held in women’s prisons.
“The danger of taking a blanket approach…is you end up having a different effect to the one you want, because you catch cases that should be dealt with in a different way.”, saying this was “what we would expect for a person convicted of rape”.
