Nina’s Still Riding High: Legendary jockey Nina Carberry introduced her gorgeous daughters Rosie and Hollie in an exclusive RSVP photoshoot following her Dancing with the Stars win and being announced as the newest Ireland's Fittest Family coach
Nina Carberry was back on our screens as the new coach on Ireland’s Fittest Family in October 2022. No stranger to healthy competition, the legendary jockey and Dancing With The Stars champion says she has met her match in fellow coaches Davy Fitzgerald, Anna Geary and Donncha O’Callaghan, but when push comes to shove she’s not afraid to use her voice.
They do have a pony at home, they sit up on it and are mad into looking after it. They love brushing the pony and washing its tail. Right now it’s just about being around them without being afraid. They’re not really competing or anything at the minute, that will be a while down the road. When that time comes, I’ll give them all the skills they need to know and if they want to go down that route I’ll be there for them, but if they don’t I’m not going to force them either.
A decade of marriage is a big milestone! Tell us about your wedding – you had your reception at Tayto Park? No, it’s not something that we plan for, but like obviously if something happens we’ll be delighted. We’re happy enough at the minute I think. It’s like a miracle to have two healthy babies – I’m so blessed.Definitely the Irish National, it’s probably one of the biggest races in Ireland and to win it for my uncle Arthur was amazing. It’s only down the road from me too so that was a childhood dream to do that and to follow in my dad and my two brothers’ footsteps as well.
From time to time there have been accusations of sexism towards female jockeys in the industry – was that something you ever experienced?
