The UGI gas main rupture resulted in the death of 33-year-old Ana Abreu.
On Christmas Day in 2020, Abreu and three others — Abreu’s husband, their two-month-old child and an extended family member — were driving west on PA Route 314 in Pocono Township when the UGI Utilities-owned gas main located beneath the road burst,
causing their Ford Explorer to flip over. The driver and two other passengers survived.“UGI is encouraged by the decision of the district attorney,” said the Joe Swope, a spokesman for the utility company. “At this point, we have no additional comment.”
