The Fianna Fail TD has engaged with schools and parent groups over the dangers of social media and is asking that children don't own their own smartphone until they leave primary school
Minister for Education Norma Foley has warned she could implement a social media ban for under-13s as children as young as six have been exposed to inappropriate content.
"We have children as young as six and seven years of age and they are being exposed to content no parent or guardian would want them to see," Minister Foley told The Irish Sun. Earlier this year, Minister Foley met with firms to ask them tighten these barriers but the Irish Sun reports no real changes have been made as of yet.
