People in North Dublin will experience water supply disruption in the coming days while critical repair works are carried out on a damaged water main.

Uisce Éireann said people can expect to see reduced pressure, intermittent water discolouration and loss of supply today and tomorrow.

Uisce Éireann said people can expect to see reduced pressure, intermittent water discolouration and loss of supply today and tomorrow. It said the disruption is due to critical works on a"major water main" which supplies drinking water to various areas across North Dublin. The works will begin tonight at 9pm before continuing throughout the night and into tomorrow.Uisce Éireann said the work had to be carried out immediately as the water main is"likely to completely rupture" if it is not repaired soon. The utility said teams will work to restore normal water supply"as quickly as possible".

"It’s expected the pressure will start to return to normal around lunchtime Saturday, however it may take between six to 12 hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network," it said.It thanked the people of North Dublin for the patience and cooperation with the works.
