Cells at HMP North Sea Camp open prison do not have space for 'a table or chair', a report finds.

Despite its "cramped cells", a report by HM Inspectorate of Prisons concluded the jail was "very safe". Prisoners with "protected characteristics", including those from black or ethnic minority backgrounds, lacked confidence to raise concerns, prison bosses were also told.Instances of prisoners absconding and temporary release failures were "very infrequent", however, and compared favourably with other open prisons, inspectors found.
