'She still struggles every day with memories of the assault'
A 27-year-old man from Northampton who assaulted a woman in her own bed as she slept has been sentenced after being found guilty of rape. Northamptonshire Police has applauded his victim for coming forward and making it so "he can no longer hurt anyone else."
His victim had been enjoying an evening in the garden with her housemates after a long shift at work. Botnari had also been invited to the property as an acquaintance of one of the occupants.The woman had called it a night and headed back to her bedroom to get some sleep. But she later woke up to find Botnari on top her, committing rape.
Following Botnari's conviction in December, Northants Police said how "this case has had an enormous impact on , resulting in her having to move away from the county, and she still struggles every day with memories of the assault.
