Northamptonshire is set to see temperatures reach 34C on Monday

Good Morning Britain weather host Laura Tobin has warned that the UK could face "hundreds if not thousands of fatalities" as the temperatures are set to rise over the weekend and into next week and the Met Office issued its first ever red warning. The Northampton-born meteorologist joined presenters Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins on the ITV news programme on Friday, July 16.

"It's really unusual to actually look at a forecast so far ahead," Laura said: "But we're really confident that we are seeing high temperatures on Monday. Across the board for England and Wales, way above average... but then Tuesday hotter still. "It's these temperatures that potentially mean that our amber warning - some people are wondering if it could go red. That would make a national emergency," Laura Tobin added: "That means not just the very vulnerable, everybody in every age category is at risk of the extreme heat," She added: "There will be hundreds if not thousands of fatalities due to this heatwave.
