A Northampton school is closed today after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death. after the stabbing in Kingsthorpe yesterday afternoon.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died shortly afterwards. Kingsthorpe College, which about a 20 minute walk away from the scene of the stabbing, has confirmed it is closed today, and said that it does not yet know whether it will be open tomorrow. The school has not said specifically why it is shut.A spokesperson said: "Due to an ongoing incident in the community, Kingsthorpe College will not be open to students on Thursday 23rd March 2023.
Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries, and have said an increased police presence would remain in the area, including high-visibility patrols, to offer reassurance and support the community. Anyone who has any concerns is encouraged to speak to an officer, said a force spokesperson. “Arrests were promptly made this evening, and enquiries are continuing to move at a fast pace however I would still appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information who has not yet come forward, to please do so.
