He is in the procession of more than 5,000 military personnel
A Northamptonshire soldier is preparing for King Charles' coronation. Warrant Officer Class 1 Aidan O’Brien, of The Grenadier Guards, will be marching in the procession of more than 5,000 military personnel.
The procession will turn an individual soldier’s polishing of their kit and units’ drill practice into a glittering spectacle fit to mark the crowning of a new King and Queen. The 40-year-old said: “To be on parade for a coronation is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion and I’m hugely privileged to be taking part."I’ve been involved in major Royal events before and there’s nothing quite like marching down The Mall, with everyone looking their best and huge crowds waving flags.
WO1 O’Brien, who went to Parker E-ACT Academy, has been in the Army for 21 years and was deployed on operations in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
