The union will take strike action for 48 hours later this month
Radiographers in Northern Ireland have voted to take 48 hour strike action later this month amid an ongoing pay dispute in the health service.
Almost 10% of the Northern Ireland population is currently waiting for a diagnostic test, according to the latest figures. She added: “Doctors and nurses cannot do their jobs without a team of radiographers, sonographers and radiography assistants – and waiting lists are growing. “Many departmental managers now automatically rota radiographers for overtime – rather than asking for overtime on a voluntary basis – as it’s the only way they can make sure there’s enough staff available.
“Even in England, where SoR members recently took strike action, a radiographer’s starting salary is more than £1,300 higher than it would be in Northern Ireland. The Society of Radiographers believes that there is no reason why there should not now be a second iteration of New Decade, New Approach to deal with the pay issue and, indeed, provide a functioning government for the people of Northern Ireland.
