Traffic was blocked at the junction of Lower Parliament Street and Broad Street
to tackle a flat fire at lunchtime on Saturday . Broad Street was blocked to traffic at the junction with Lower Parliament Street due to the incident at Castle Exchange.
This was a breaking incident and we brought you updates as and when they happened via our live blog below.Recap on the fire incident The roads in the area were cordoned off for about an hour while firefighters dealt with the situation.Watch manager Martin Hickling on the scene said the service was called at 11.58am this morning and six fire appliances were sent. It was confirmed to be a flat fire. He said:
“Luckily everyone here did. We have a nightmare with people not knowing what to do. If people are unsure they should contact their housing manager to find out whether they should stay in the property or fully evacuate.”Nottingham Travelwise has reported that roads involved in the fire incident have now been reopened.Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has updated its message to say that "there have been no injuries". They added that "the incident has now been dealt with".
