Nottingham man arrested after 50 drain covers stolen

Another man from Long Eaton was arrested

A man from Nottingham has been arrested after more than 50 drain covers were reported stolen across Derbyshire. Police are investigating the thefts which were reported in the Erewash and South Derbyshire areas.

Derbyshire Police, who are also carrying out inquiries into further reports in the Spondon area of Derby, said two men were arrested in connection with the theft of scrap metal by Nottinghamshire Police on Tuesday, September 19. It follows a report to them in relation to reports of a metal theft in the Burton Joyce area.

Officers from the two police forces worked together to locate a vehicle suspected to be involved, which was stopped in Long Eaton. Derbyshire Police said: "We are continuing with our inquiries and would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious, or with information about stolen drain covers.
