The Nottingham Panthers ' have issued an update regarding fundraising for Adam Johnson . The 29-year-old died following an accident during the game between the Panthers and Sheffield Steelers in Sheffield on Saturday, October 28.
In a tweet posted at around 8.30pm on Monday, October 30, the team stated: "It has been a difficult and deeply emotional couple of days for everyone associated with The Nottingham Panthers, Sheffield Steelers and the Elite League. We would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support from far and wide.
"The Nottingham Panthers are in the process of setting up an official GoFundMe page to support Adam Johnson's family and will have more details on this soon. We are aware that an existing fundraiser page has been shared widely. "However the owner of that page is not known to or affiliated with the club. We ask that any fans who wish to donate to Adam's family exercise caution and await the publication of the official GoFundMe page."
