The chippy is in the running for a prestigious national award
It's only been open six months but a West Bridgford chippy is in the running for a prestigious national award. The Cod's Scallops, located at the £20m Wilford Lane retail park has been shortlisted in the top ten restaurants of the year in the National Fish & Chip Awards.
The sixth in the Cod's Scallops' chain, the business is no stranger to the awards. In 2020 the original Wollaton chippy, in Bramcote Lane, was crowned the best in the UK.After hundreds of applications, the popular restaurant is the only fish and chip shop in Nottinghamshire to be shortlisted for the esteemed award, sponsored this year by Seafood from Iceland.
After launching in Wollaton in 2011, owner John Molnar went on to open a second in Carrington in 2016. The business later expanded outside Notts to open in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, Market Harborough, Leicestershire and Harborne, near Birmingham.
