A nurse is suing a four-star hotel in Ireland after she claims to have suffered injuries from a fall on what she alleges was a wet floor at a wedding. Pamela Kirby, a 42-year-old from Clonmel, County Tipperary, alleges that she slipped on a tiled area outside a lift at Hotel Kilkenny on August 18, 2018, while attending a friend's wedding reception. Ms.
Kirby, who was wearing her own wedding shoes, states that she fell and landed on her right side, experiencing excruciating pain that she says felt as if she was going to die. She claims to have dislocated her elbow, broken bones in her toes, and sustained other injuries requiring casts for both her leg and elbow. Ms. Kirby asserts that a friend later took a photograph of a yellow wet floor sign near the area where she fell. Hotel Kilkenny denies any responsibility for Ms. Kirby's injuries, stating that she was wearing five-inch stilettos and simply lost her balance. They maintain that the floor was not wet and that a duty manager who inspected the area after the incident will testify to this. The hotel's legal representative, Eamon Marray SC, argued that Ms. Kirby's fall was an unfortunate accident caused by her high heels, a claim she vehemently denies. The case continues before Mr. Justice Tony O’Connor.
