Royal College of Nursing vows action for 'as long as it takes' after members walk out at 77 trusts - and are joined for the first time by 10,000 ambulance staff
Nurses in England say they are prepared to carry on striking until the summer as their row with the Government shows no sign of ending.
Union leaders implored the Government to act to prevent further strike action but ministers in England have indicated that they will not budge on pay for 2022/23 – one of the main points of contention. Strikes due to take place in Wales on Monday were called off as the Welsh Government made an improved pay offer to NHS staff. Ms Cullen called on Rishi Sunak to reopen talks and accused the Prime Minister of “punishing” nurses in England who were being “left behind”.
