Three prominent universities said this week a spike in Covid-19 cases prompted them to cancel events and move to a remote format.
NYU said it is “strongly encouraging” teachers to move exams online and is asking the community to cancel all non-essential events like holiday celebrations, club meetings or athletic events.to students the university has “seen an uptick” in Covid-19 cases among undergraduates this week, and suspects some of the positive cases are the omicron variant.
Princeton said it will move all exams online on Thursday, and is asking university groups to cancel or postpone indoor gatherings with food and other events where it’s difficult to keep a mask on until January 7. said Tuesday it would close facilities, move exams online and cancel school activities after identifying “a significant number” of omicron Covid-19 cases among the student population on Monday.
